Your day by day program
Your itinerary starts from the city centre of Lucca. Lose yourself in the tiny narrow streets of this fortified city, and its historical monuments, typical bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours. Take a walk on the walls which surround Lucca and enjoy the panorama of the entire city.
Night in a property near the heart of the city, not far to the well-known Anfiteatro square.
Hop on your bike and continue your tour towards Massarosa, in direction of sea. The itinerary will guide you to Massaciuccoli Lake where you can admire the marvelous villa of the famous Puccini. Don’t miss the outstanding Natural Park of Massaciuccoli Lake, a natural reserve where it’s possible to go on a boat cruise on the lake and admire some rare bird species.

From Massarosa you will cycle to Monsagrati, a small village located in the north of Lucca. During the cycle, you will reach the famous Lido di Viareggio, well famous in all Italy. Take your time to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere along the seashore of Viareggio and continue the itinerary until reaching Monsagrati where you will be fascinated by the breath-taking panorama. A few kilometers away from this small village, you will find the old village Gombitelli where we suggest trying the local wine and the typical cured meats, products made from generation to generation.

The stage of this day is Carignano, in the heart of the Tuscan landscape. The accommodation is located on the beautiful rolling hills of Lucca, between splendid vineyards and olive plantations. Your stay for the night will be in a farmer's old house. Here you can taste some specialities as cheese and pulse produced in the local farmstead.

Once you leave Carignano, your itinerary continues along hillsides vineyards until you arrive in Montecarlo. Relax, enjoy the many local wineries and admire this medieval town located on the hilltops of Lucca.

Your next stop is Sant’Andrea di Compito, a small village tucked away between vineyards and olive grovs. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this tiny town, centre of the old religious life and famous for its itinerary “the camelias route”, a pleasant tour along the riverside.

Return to Lucca and take the chance to assist one of Puccini’s opera representations in the cathedral, taste the typical products of the city and do some shopping in the many shops of the city. We recommend you the address of some typical restaurants far from the most crowded streets of the city, you won't be disappointed!
