From Nice to Genova by bike

Nice awaits you with its beautiful promenade des Anglais, the heart of the city where you can meet street artists, its trendy bars and, above all, the beach overlooking the azure-blue sea. The most characteristic corner of Nice is the old city: a maze of lanes, alternating between charming restaurants and shops of local handicrafts, which open onto small and picturesque squares.

tags. Your cycling adventure begins with a gentle climb along the magnificent Haute Corniche, a scenic route offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean coastline.
You pass through La Turbie, home to the impressive Trophy of Augustus, a Roman monument overlooking Monaco. From here, you enjoy spectacular panoramic views before descending towards Cap-Martin and continuing to Menton, also known as the "City of Lemons".
Take some time to explore Menton's charming Old Town, its historic basilica and its seafront fort.
Shortly afterwards, you cross the French-Italian border and arrive in Ventimiglia, where you spend the night.

On this stage, you follow a beautiful coastal cycle path towards Sanremo, one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Ligurian Riviera, also known as the "City of Flowers".
After Sanremo, you reach Bussana. If you have time and feel like an extra challenge, you can take a 3 km uphill detour to Bussana Vecchia, a fascinating village partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1887. Today, it is home to a community of artists who have restored many of its historic buildings. Explore its romantic church ruins, medieval stone houses and magnificent sea views.
From San Lorenzo, your route leaves the coastline and takes you into the beautiful Ligurian countryside.
A manageable climb brings you to Civezza, a charming hilltop village surrounded by olive groves. From here, enjoy a pleasant descent towards Imperia, where you spend the night.

Today's route takes you through charming coastal towns and villages, including Diano Marina and San Bartolomeo, which are particularly lively during the summer months.
One of the highlights is Cervo, a picturesque medieval village perched above the sea, offering beautiful views of the coastline.
As you continue, the hills seem to plunge directly into the Mediterranean. You reach Marina di Andora, where you can take a well-deserved break on the beach and perhaps enjoy a refreshing swim.
Your route then turns inland towards the Merula Valley. After a few climbs through the surrounding hills near Villalunga, you descend towards the seaside town of Alassio, where you spend the night.

Today, you follow part of the ancient Roman road, the Via Julia Augusta, towards Albenga, a historic town rich in architectural treasures.
Take some time to discover its impressive Cathedral of San Michele, its 5th-century baptistery and its famous medieval towers. You then leave the coast and head towards Toirano, a beautiful medieval village renowned for its spectacular limestone caves.
Returning towards the sea, you pass through Borgio before climbing towards Verezzi, considered one of Italy's most beautiful villages and known for its annual theatre festival.From here, you descend to Finalborgo, another delightful medieval village surrounded by ancient walls, before reaching Finale for the night.

You begin the day by cycling along the coast towards Finalpia, before climbing to the Manie plateau.
From here, you descend through peaceful wooded surroundings towards Noli, a charming seaside village nestled between the Mediterranean and the surrounding hills. Above the village, you can admire the remains of its historic castle.
To reach Spotorno, you can choose between a more direct coastal route or a hillier alternative passing near Noli Castle and Vezzi Portio, followed by a pleasant descent.
You then continue along the coastline through Torre del Mare and Bergeggi, enjoying beautiful sea views along the way.
After descending towards Vado Ligure, the scenic seafront leads you into Savona, where you spend the night.

On your final cycling day, you follow the beautiful Ligurian coastline towards Albissola, where the sandy beaches and seaside establishments invite you to take a relaxing break.
Continuing along the coast, you reach Celle Ligure and then Varazze, a charming seaside town with a wide promenade lined with historic buildings.
You then enjoy one of the most scenic sections of the journey: a coastal cycle path built along a former 19th-century railway line.The route takes you through old railway tunnels, across stone bridges and along spectacular stretches overlooking the Mediterranean.
Your cycling adventure ends in Arenzano, where you board a train with your bicycles to reach Genoa, the capital of Liguria.
Enjoy your final evening in this fascinating historic port city.
